Introduction to the Mammography Program

The Higher Education Certificate in Mammography is designed for individuals currently working in a clinical environment within mammography services who wish to develop clinical, critical, and reflective thinking skills in practice. This modular, practice-based course enables students to follow a pathway within mammography, leading to mammography clinical skills.

Teaching and Assessment

• Teaching, learning, and assessment: Students are expected to take overall responsibility for their learning, attending classes online and a clinical training week in either Glasgow or Edinburgh, followed by independent work.

• Person-centredness in the Breast Care Service (20 credits)

Entry Requirements and Application

• Entry requirements: Current employment in a clinical environment offering mammography experience, as well as 2 SQA Highers or equivalent.

• Accreditation of prior learning: Exemption from studying a module or modules up to a maximum of 60 credit points may be granted, provided the student can demonstrate successful achievement of all the learning outcomes.
